History
From the 16th century onward, Qutb Shahi rulers built tombs that turned the plain below Golconda into a planned necropolis. Each generation adjusted dome profiles, tile work and garden settings.
Architecture
Onion and bulbous domes, arcade galleries and funerary mosques create a skyline of white and grey silhouettes. Conservation has reopened sightlines between major tombs.
Visit
Morning light is best for photographs. Combine with Golconda Fort above; allow an hour to walk the main tomb cluster.
